mct powder

What is MCT?

  • Medium Chain Triglycerides (most fats are long-chain)
  • These short fat molecules are easier to break down into energy

When I feel drained & need to be mentally alert, it's tough to maintain strict keto. My brain needs energy to do great work, but my body just can't break down enough fats to get the required energy.

Carbs seem like the easy way out, but that glucose in your bloodstream will knock you out of ketosis, and I always get the keto-flu when transitioning back in later.

Instead, reach for the low-hanging-fat -- MCTs. They'll give you more energy, faster, than traditional fats. And they won't knock you out of ketosis, so your later self will thank you.

Powder vs Oil

  • Oil is best, but it really doesn't matter
    • In order to make powder, they have get the oil pretty hot, and that's generally bad for oil
